Suspension
Air springs
Air suspension gives the later Discoverys their ride and off-road ability, but compressors, air bags and height sensors wear out. Tell us if it sits level overnight, whether any fault messages show and what has been replaced.
This is what we look at on every Discovery, and what's worth telling us, so your offer is right first time.
Suspension
Air suspension gives the later Discoverys their ride and off-road ability, but compressors, air bags and height sensors wear out. Tell us if it sits level overnight, whether any fault messages show and what has been replaced.
Engine
The 2.7 TDV6 can suffer crankshaft failures, and the 3.0 engines can have turbo and timing issues. The Td5 has its own injector and wiring quirks. Tell us how it runs and about any knocks, smoke or warning lights.
Chassis
Discovery 1 and 2 have a separate chassis that can rot at the rear crossmember and outriggers. Later models have an integrated body frame. Photos underneath help us price fairly.
Gearbox
Tell us about any slipping, clunks or warning messages, and whether the gearbox or transfer box has been serviced. Heavy towing is fine, we just need to know.
Spec
Spec makes a difference. Tell us the trim, the seat count and options like the panoramic roof, rear screens, the tow pack and the off-road pack.
History
A Discovery with a folder of invoices from a good specialist is easier to value. Mention big jobs like air suspension, timing belts, cranks or gearbox work.
This page explains what we look at when we value a Discovery. It isn't a price guide: every vehicle is valued individually, free and without obligation.
